SEMICON West 2026 brought the global semiconductor industry together in San Francisco from October 13–15, highlighting innovations in AI-driven chipmaking, advanced packaging, inspection technologies, and the future of semiconductor manufacturing.

Under the theme Transform Tomorrow, this year’s event offered a look at the technologies, challenges, and opportunities shaping the next generation of semiconductor development.
The LeadinWay USA team was pleased to attend SEMICON West 2026, connect with industry professionals, and explore opportunities for collaboration across the global semiconductor ecosystem.
So, what stood out at SEMICON West 2026, and what does it mean for the industry?
1. Advanced Packaging and Inspection Technologies Take Center Stage
Advanced packaging continues to play an increasingly important role in semiconductor innovation, particularly as chipmakers pursue higher performance through heterogeneous integration, chiplets, and 3D packaging.
At SEMICON West 2026, companies showcased technologies addressing manufacturing and inspection challenges associated with these increasingly complex architectures.
These developments reflect the growing importance of process control, defect detection, and manufacturing precision. As packaging technologies advance, reliable inspection solutions will remain essential for maintaining quality, improving production efficiency, and supporting manufacturing yield.
2. Next-Generation Semiconductors Drive Demand for Advanced Testing Solutions
Beyond manufacturing and packaging, semiconductor testing remains a critical part of ensuring device performance and reliability.
As power electronics evolve, wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies such as gallium nitride (GaN) are creating new opportunities in high-efficiency power conversion, data centers, and automotive applications.
Dynamic characterization and reliability testing help engineers evaluate device behavior under application-relevant operating conditions.
For semiconductor manufacturers and technology developers, accurate testing is essential for understanding device performance, improving designs, and supporting product qualification.
3. U.S. Semiconductor Manufacturing Continues to Expand
Another important topic at SEMICON West 2026 was the continued growth of semiconductor manufacturing in the United States.
Industry discussions addressed manufacturing investments, supply chain resilience, infrastructure development, and workforce requirements needed to support future expansion.
Arizona remains a particularly important region within the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem, supported by investments from major manufacturers and an expanding network of equipment and technology suppliers.
